Pats vs Broncos

No live blog tonight as I don't have wifi at the rink anymore. And it's too hard to blog from my phone.
I have paper and I'm going to take notes and will have thoughts later. I might do some tweeting during the game but we'll see.

Anyway,

GoPatsGo

Edit: My notes are/were terrible.... pretty much unable to decipher them. Oh, well. A couple of things:

Jordan Weal's tally was insane. I don't know how he was able to do the deke he did in close on the Bronco goalie an still lift it over him. I'm becoming more and more impressed with Weal each and every game.

It was nice to see Dyson Stevenson get back on the scoresheet with his two markers.... hopefully it carries on for the rest of the season.

It's nice to have what seems like a dependable #1 goalie in Matt Hewitt, his play is a true breath of fresh air.

I'm so happy that the home whites are indeed home whites again.

More sad news from the Pat Family

I didn't hear about the passing of Tyson Sievert until after supper tonight. I really almost didn't believe what I heard. My thoughts and prayers go out to Tyson's family and friends.

The Regina Pats press release:

Regina, Saskatchewan – The Regina Pats Hockey Club would like to extend our sincere condolences to the friends and family of former Regina Pats player Tyson Sievert who tragically passed away late last night.

After starting his Western Hockey League career with the Moose Jaw Warriors and Saskatoon Blades, Tyson played with the Pats for the 2005-06 season.

Regina Pats President, Brent Parker “This is another tragedy to add to a long list over the past few months. We enjoyed the time that Tyson spent in our organization, he was just a good honest hard working Saskatchewan kid. Our heartfelt thoughts and prayers go out to his parents, Dale and Jackie and their family during this difficult time.”

Regina Pats General Manager, Chad Lang “We are very saddened to hear of the passing of Tyson. He was a great kid and a tremendous teammate. He competed hard and was willing to do whatever it took to help the team achieve its goals both on and off the ice. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his parents, Dale and Jackie and their entire family. We all will deeply miss Tyson.”

I was looking forward.....

to getting back into my blog but I've been working on a couple of projects and I admit that I have neglected it. I'm not making any promises but I can honestly say there will be more posts happening on a pretty much daily (or more frequent) basis from now on in.

I will be posting more opinions, more stats, facts, etc. Even as I'm working on my other projects.

Anyway peace,

Go Pats Go

Quick Update

Unfortunately I had no wifi at the last Pats home game so I couldn't live blog (and it's not fun blogging from my phone which I'm doing right now).

And now my internet is acting up again (after working good for quite a while) so I'll blog again when I my internet is working..... Hopefully by Monday.

But you never know... I might suck it up and blog from the phone.

Have a good one and #GoPatsGo!

Pats vs Blazers

Tonight is yet another important game for the Pats as they look to take 2 points from the visiting Kamloops Blazers.

Adam Beukeboom is getting his second career start at home.... Hopefully he battles hard and gets a full game under his belt as well as a W.

More later....

Pats @ Blades

I wish I was there! But for now I'll listen to Dan Plaster call "greasy Pats hockey" (his words).

Anyway,
GO PATS GO!

Edit: This one didn't turn out for the good guys giving up 2 late goals in the 4-2 loss to the Blades. Gotta give a ton of credit to Blade goalie Makarov who made 40+ saves.

What have I missed?

Well, I've been really busy and really haven't had a chance to focus on the recent Pats games but have listened to most of the recent action.

A quick congratulations to Matt Hewitt picking up his first goose-egg in a huge game in Brandon.

I missed most of the Raiders game.... it didn't seem too "special" but from what I heard it sounded like they kept working hard but just couldn't rebound from the special teams goals against.

I did get to see some of the game (thanks to my PVR). Nice snipe by Scheidl in OT on a great faceoff win by Jordan Weal.
__________
It sucks to have Brandon Underwood on the shelf..... get healthy soon!
__________
Hopefully Nils Moser gets some much needed ice time to get 100% healthy playing in the AJHL.

Pats vs. Rebels

Adam Beukeboom (@adambeukeboom35) gets his first home start of his career.

Blidstrand, Olstad, Moser and Zimbaluk are the scratches.

More to come.....

Some line juggling as Stephenson and Weal are now with Rieder.

Early on the combination of Peel and Burroughs has been split up and Peel is with Underwood and Burroughs is with Davidson. That is awesome for them.

Update:
Chandler Stephenson (@CStephenson22) opened up the scoring for the Pats and the teddy bears rained down for few couple of minutes. I was disappointed with peoples attitudes towards the teddy bear toss and noticed that many a person didn't bring a stuffed animal. My family and I did well and tossed over a dozen furry creatures on the ice. But back to Stephenson.... he's finally getting his chance to prove that he belongs on the top line.

Andrew Rieder (@Rieder28) had a good game back up on a line with Weal and Stephenson with many chances but Bartosak had his number and needed to make a couple of huge stops early in the game to keep the Pats at bay.

I feel sorry for Adam Beukeboom..... getting pulled in his first start at home after allowing 2 goals on 13 shots. I don't know if it was nerves or what it was but it seemed like he was fighting the puck and was having trouble with the glove hand. The coaches must have seen something that warranted them pulling the switch.

Matt Hewitt (@Hewitt30) came in and played really well. His only goal allowed was a screen shot from the point on the powerplay.

Others that deserve a a quick mention off the top of my head: Jordan Weal with another great game, Jobke with 1 and 1, Ouellette with what was probably a career game with 1 and 2. I will expand on this more tomorrow.

I have way more to mention, but it's getting late (this part of my update is being wrote at 11:57pm). I will have more thoughts tomorrow.

Anyway....

Pats vs. Giants

Man it was great to be back in the barn... errr.... The Brandt. I was impressed that the place didn't have the normal after Agribition aroma, but it did creep in here and there but was not overwhelming. Well back to the task at hand.

I decided not to live blog, I want to get back into the swing of things and will live blog in the near future (maybe as soon as tomorrow).... We'll see.

I really don't have much to say about the game, but I do have a few things to say.....

The boys have to shoot more.... I thought that they took too many pass attempts (being to fancy? I don't know) when they had opportunities to shoot. Rieder did just that and scored a goal by shooting.... by no means a fancy goal.

I'm not sure of the reasoning behind having Peel-Burroughs together as a tandem. I do like both of the boys on defence but I'm just not sure that they are a good enough pair to play a regular shift yet. There are times that they look like aged vets but at times they look like total rooks (which they are) Putting them each with a veteran d partner would make sense.... but I'm not the coach. I do think that both are going to be great players (maybe as soon as next year).

What's up with Blidstrand? Not dressed again.... Healthy scratch?

I honestly think that the Pats worked hard tonight but the Giants worked just as hard (if not a bit harder) and when a team has the size and skill that the Giants have it was just a matter of time before they took over. The Giants pursuit of the puck carrier is almost scary at times. Gotta give Vancouver props..... they are a good squad.

Matt Hewitt tried his best to keep the Pats in the game although only facing 24 shots he made some big saves.

Speaking of shooting more..... the Pats need to shoot more (rinse, lather, repeat). With that being said it appears that the players are snake-bitten around the net..... Well that's all I got for now.

Thanks for reading. I really hope that they get a good crowd for Teddy Bear Toss night tomorrow night against the Rebels.

Remember people the Pats slogan "Stand With Us"..... so let's "Stand With Them"

GO PATS GO!!

A New Month

Hey everyone, sorry for lack of recent posts. It has been a crazy last two weeks and have just hadn't had the focus I needed to blog.

I'm really not sure what I want to blog about that hasn't been covered by the Leader-Post, other blogs and message boards.... so maybe I will just leave the past two weeks in the rear view mirror and focus on the future. It will be a quick post tonight.

Well I guess there will be some rehashing of the recent events but I will keep that to a minimum (for now at least, my mind is all over the place).

As selfish as this will sound I'm glad the Pats will have Jordan Weal for the not too distant future. He helps give the Pats the best chance to win. With 38 points in just 25 games Weal is by far and away the Pats leading scorer (16 points up on second). I think that Weal totally deserved to at least be invited to Team Canada's camp but like I said that has been covered in all sorts of places.
_____
I find it hard to believe that with a that is 2 games over .500 the Pats are in 9th in the conference.... Talk about parity in the East.
_____
Enough rambling for now. I'm back and ready to roll. Looking forward to live blogging the Giants and the Rebels games from the Brandt!
