Live Blog: Pats v Rebels - First Period

....Just underway.

....Pats scratches are Stephenson, Moser, Rieder and Pavkovich. Pats are playing with 17 skaters.

....Hanson and Iverson are the referees. Lawrence and Marshall are manning the lines.

....I was hoping there would be better officiating tonight.... I was wrong. Neigum gets a minor for boarding.... he went and muscled Dumba down and didn't even hit the boards. Red Deer on the PP.

....Pats kill the penalty but Red Deer strikes within a minute of the kill to go up 1-0 at the 7:14 minute mark. Pats are caught running around in their own zone Froese capitializes on a rebound and beats Hewitt glove side. Borejko and Weller pick up the assists.

....Looks like the Pats are lakcing jump and the penalty deflated anything they had in ways of momentum. The shot tally is 10-1 Rebels just 9 minutes in.

....Pats get a quality chance 11 1/2 minutes in and Mitchell comes close to burying the rebound but is denied by Kuemper.

....No whistles for almost 6 minutes. Weal dances in over the line and fires the puck top glove side that is snagged by the Red Deer keeper. Shots are 12-5 Rebels at the internet (tv or whatever it is) timeout.... 5:53 left on the first.

....15:02 in Red Deer takes a 2-0 lead when a screened Hewitt is beaten by a floater from the middle point. Scored by Nugent-Hopkins assists to Petrovic and Archer. I don't think Hewitt saw it.

....Pats take another minor with 2:35 left in the first. Bell is called for tripping... This could mean trouble for the Pats.

....Hewitt gets beat five hole as I was typing the last sentence (not a good goal), I'm sure he would like that one back. Froese gets the goal Petrovic and Nugent-Hopkins get the assists at 17:34.

....Petrovic and Mitchell get offsetting minors with 1:56 left in the first. Time for some 4on4.

....Hewitt allows his 4th on Red Deer's 15th shot on goal as the Rebels go up 4-0 with 1:35 left in the first. Dumba gets the goal; Kudrna and Archer get the assists. I'm not sure if Hewitt didn't see the shot (looked like he had a good sightline) but it wasn't a pretty goal, I'm sure he wants that one back.

....Man it may sound like I'm complaining but man these refs are bad! Two nights in a row.... this is brutal.
....Neigum is losing his cool and picks up a highsticking minor at the buzzer.

...15-6 shots for the Rebels after the first.

....Yikes!
