Pats settle on 20s

Media release:

Regina, Saskatchewan – The Regina Pats have put an end to their 20 year old puzzle by today putting forward Mitch Czibere on waivers for purpose of re-assignment to Junior-A.
Czibere, along with a 2009 4th round bantam pick, came to the Pats early in the 2008-09 campaign from the Vancouver Giants in exchange for defencemen Curtis Kulchar and Todd Kennedy. In 53 games last season, Czibere set career highs in goals (11), assists (18) and points (29).
This leaves the Pats with three 20 year olds: Brett Leffler, Matt Delahey and Matt Strueby.
18 year old forward Garrett Mitchell suffered an injured thumb in last night’s 4-3 shootout win over the Saskatoon Blades. He will be heading for more x-rays early next week and is out indefinitely.
The Pats will be back on the ice Friday night for the first match-up of the season with the Moose Jaw Warriors. The two annually battle for the Mayor’s Cup Championship, which the Pats took last season 5 games to 1.
Tickets are available for the highway one battle right now at the Ticketmaster box office, call 543-7800 for details. You can also get your tickets at any Canada Safeway store in Regina for just $10, GST included. This will get you a seat in the Safeway “Family Fun Zone”, which is located in the newly finished upper deck in the East end of the Brandt Centre.
