Sad News - Wayne 'Deacon' Zurowski has passed away

I received news that former Regina Pats assistant trainer from the 1973-74 Memorial Cup Championship team Wayne 'Deacon' Zurowski passed away earlier today. When I get more information I will pass it on.

From the 1973-74 team photo.
Wayne's family and friends are in my prayers.

Rest in Peace Deacon.

More 1974 Memorial Cup Memorabilia

On April 26, 1987 the Regina Pats 1974 Memorial Cup team played an exhibition game against the Winnipeg Jets alumni. All the proceeds went to The Brad Hornung Foundation (who was hurt earlier in the year).

As I was only 8 at the time I really don't remember this game too well but I do remember being there.

Here's the whole lineup (all whopping 4 pages):

40 Years ago today the Regina Pats played their second game of the Memorial Cup Tournament and fell 5-3 to the Quebec Remparts giving them a 1-1-0 record at the 1974 Memorial Cup. The three teams had identical records but thanks to the goals for/goals against, the Pats received a bye to the Final on May 12. Here's the Leader-Post take on things:
