Pats/T-Birds Tonight

Head-to-Head
The Pats and Thunderbirds come together for their lone matchup of the 2012-13 season.  Last year, the Pats travelled to Seattle and were handed a 5-2 defeat by the Thunderbirds.  Chandler Stephenson scored both Pat goals in the loss while Branden Troock matched with a pair for Seattle.  The Pats come into tonight’s home game having snapped a four game winless slide when they grabbed a win over the division leading Raiders.  The Thunderbirds are in the midst of an extended East Division road swing with a 1-2-0-0 record so far. You can listen to tonight’s game on 620 CKRM with the Press Box Sports Bar Pre-Game Show starting at 6:35.

Lead Up: Pats Trump Raiders
The Pats brought their best effort of the week against the then conference leading Raiders.  After a slow start in the first that saw the teams tied 1-1, the Pats took over the next forty minutes.  Colten Mayor got the Pats a lead heading into the third period.  In the final frame, Dyson Stevenson and Jack Rodewald tacked on two more markers in the early going and Regina cruised to the 4-1 victory.

American Visitors
The Pats hold a 2-1-0-0 record against the U.S. Division this season.  The only other team with two wins against the U.S. teams is Moose Jaw.  The whole East Division is 7-11-1-2 against the U.S. Division.

Never Stop Battling
The Pats held the lead going to the third period in their victory against Prince Albert.  That hasn’t always been the case, but the team hasn’t packed it in when trailing.  The Pats are tied for third in the WHL with two wins when trailing after two periods of play.

Molson Cup
Through the first quarter of the Regular Season, Chandler Stephenson sits atop the Molson Cup Standings with thirteen points and three First Star selections.  Lane Scheidl sat in second with ten points and Matt Hewitt rolled into third place with eight points.

Under-16 Challenge
Prospects Brady Reagan and Austin Wagner picked up Silver Medals with Team Alberta at the Under-16 Challenge this past weekend.  Skating with team Saskatchewan, Drew Litwin and Rykr Cole won Bronze.

I know I said I was going to have a 1/4 season thoughts posted. I'm just in the finishing touches of them and I should have them sometime tonight (maybe before tonight's game). I'm also thinking that I might start live-blogging again.... we'll see if I have a connection tonight and go from there.
