Who are your all-time favourite Pat players?

I was going to make a poll and limit it to one answer but as times change and players move on that answer changes and the list could be huge as I know a bunch of people that have followed the Pats since the 60's and some even before that.

So if you want to write in please feel free to comment as to who your favourite players have been and if you want you can give an explanation as to why. Or if you don't feel comfortable posting a comment you can email me at theblueliner@gmail.com.

Maybe once I compile a list of favourites maybe I will throw a poll together. Maybe a Poll tournament. Depending on the feedback I get.

Thanks

Kevin

Carter Ashton invited to Canada's WJ Tryouts

If you haven't already heard or read.... Carter Ashton has been invited to try out for team Canada. In my opinion it's well deserved. He's been impressive the last while.... just needed to get going. When he's on he's a beast. Congratulations on the invite.

With this happening.... what now? Does Chad trade him now while his value is pretty decent? Or does he keep him and wait until the WJ's are over (assuming that Carter makes the team) when his value will be even higher? The Pats seemed like they paid a huge price for Ashton..... and the way the season is going (2nd last in the conference as I type this) is it worth keeping him around and try to make a push for the playoffs or do we want to help get set up for the next few seasons? Lots of questions that will need to be answered.

I'm going to reserve my opinion for a bit.... we'll see how they do this weekend.... maybe they can turn the ship around.

Stay tuned.

I'm hoping that the road trip has brought the guys closer and that they are able to get everyone going in the same direction.

They need to stop allowing 4+ goals against per game every night. I think that the defence is there for the most part but something is missing. I can't pinpoint it but something just isn't right. I feel for our goalies that are constantly facing 30-35 shots a game.

I'll have more later.

Pats at Cougars

Not a good start.... Trailing 3-0 after one.... Hopefully they can turn this thing around.

Sent from my BlackBerry® Torch on the SaskTel Network.

EDIT: Well I guess I should have said something about the rest of the game but it's been disappointing recently and haven't had much to say. Maybe because they were on the road.... or maybe the Riders took precident for the last few weeks. But I'm back in full force.

By the way the Pats lost 5-3. Apparently did pretty decent once a couple of our players scrapped and got the team fired up.

Pats at Rockets thoughts

..... I decided not to watch the WHL Live broadcast and listened to the radio. If I want I can go back and watch the archive of the game but I don't think I will.

..... I had a bad feeling about this game..... The swing is almost over and this is usually when the Pats seem to have been worn out.

..... I'm thinking that the Pats will have to add a body or two soon. Both Muench and Stevenson missed the game due to injuries. The Pats dressed what they have (minus the 15 year olds that were/are practicing with them). Other guys have got to be getting nicked up it would be nice to have a couple of spare players to use.

...... Damien Ketlo should sue for lack of support (not goals.... but defensive support). Man over the last while I feel sorry for him facing at least 30+ shots a game every game. The odd man rushes that the Pats allow is unbelievable. It seems to me that numerous d-men (veterans and rookies) are either caught pinching or trying for the hit instead of taking playing the position. Case in point Ricard Blidstrand who is now -19 in just 25 games.

...... Carter Ashton is playing awesome lately and is finally showing that he can and will be a force at this level and is improving his value each game he plays. I'm sure Hockey Canada is going to be giving him a long look in December.

...... Jordan Weal has been playing like a beast and is as good without you-know-who than with him. His point totals might be taking a hit but he's only getting better.

...... I'm not sure why we have an Import playing on the '4th' line.... this makes no sense.

...... The Pats say they are trying to build chemistry with their lines. I don't know how this is possible when they are constantly changing. Chandler Stephenson was playing great with Reddin and Frazee and seemed to have something really good there...... out of nowhere Stephenson is back on the so called 'kid line' makes no sense. Put them back together. I guess the problem with that would be having to find a winger for the Ashton-Weal combo.

...... My comments in an earlier post were not meant to slight Dan Plaster as I think he's done a pretty good job all things considered. I don't think he's ever done play-by-play on a full time basis before so I think his game vocabulary is a lot smaller that someone like Rod Pedersen who has been doing play-by-play for a long time. Maybe he just needs to find his groove and tell us when someone scores….. At times I wonder if he is just too busy watching the play and doesn’t know how to elaborate what is going on. There have been times that I’m not sure that someone has scored until the goal horn goes. Dan will get better.

…… I’m sorry but some of these “Ask the Broadcaster” questions are questionable. I don’t hear the home game questions but some of the ones asked are lame. Like “Ronaldo” wanting to know how many imports are teams allowed to carry…. Yikes. I guess for new fans that is something that would be interesting to know but even now it’s 20+ games into the season most people should know this. I guess I shouldn’t complain as I have never sent in a question. Maybe I should start?

Pats at Blazers

I'm looking forward to watching this one. I have the WHL Live but I have been disappointed with it..... anyone that has watched games on it knows exactly what I mean. And listening to Plaster is hard at times.... i hear about pizza deliveries (makes me hungry on a game by game basis), greasy goals and at times not knowing if someone has scored, who has scored or what the score is. I know he's fairly new at it but he's hard to listen to at times. I think he needs a sidekick on the road games so he has someone to talk to.

Tonight's game is on Access7 and I'm hoping that the Pats come out guns a blazing. Ranford, Schaber and Bosch are out for the Blazers so that gives the Pats the advantage ‘on paper’ at least.

GO PATS GO!

I'm back

Well I guess I have some explaining to do as to why I’ve taken a ‘leave’ from The Blueliner... To be honest I really don’t have an answer to that. But I’m back now.

I’ve been a Pats fan literally my whole life; I’ve been a season ticket holder since I was 9 months old so ya I’m a lifer. Believe it or not I’m a die hard.... call me crazy (a few of my close friends have even called me crazy) but I have lost sleep over a Pats loss on more than one occasion and that’s not even in the playoffs (when they make it).

I have been at a loss for words these last few games. One game the team looks like it can be a legit contender and can skate with the likes of the Winterhawks and the Blades. Then they lay an egg against the Chiefs and play like junk on numerous other occasions.

I remember hearing (during a Pats radio broadcast) that the team has lost 7 (now 8 I think) games when leading after 2 periods!! How is that possible? I can’t explain. Can someone else?

I also remember hearing/reading but I’m not sure where but someone in the Pats brass said that if the team had won a few of the close games they would be battling for second (or something along those lines). Well DUH! Wouldn’t everyone be battling for position if they won their close games? Yikes. I guess I’m bitter..... don’t mind me.

Is it just me or does each post game show (on the radio) sound eerily similar? Win or lose Plaster could play previous games comments and they could almost fit for almost every game.

I’m glad that the Pats resolved their goalie situation. Ketlo has been stellar this year (except for a couple of outings that he couldn’t stop a beach ball but all Pats goalies have had those games this year). He’s made some unbelievable saves and kept the team in many a game. Hewitt is definitely a capable goalie as a backup. His only fault is that he’s small and gets beat high.

I will have more to say later.

Kevin

More ticket stubs

Bill Hicke, Clark Gilles and Carter Ashton
I've been meaning to get these up. Somewhere along the lines I misplaced my game 13 ticket stub. When (if) I find it I will scan it here.

Pats/Chiefs Thoughts....

OUCH!

That is all.
