I know it's late....

but I have to comment about the Pats v. Giants game. I really don't have much to add to what has already been said on Rod's blog (many comments included) or Greg Harders article in the LP.

I enjoyed the game but I just had a bad feeling about that one and I honestly wasn't too sad to see the Pats fall in this one.... Is this bad of me? I don't think so. I know Derek Tendler and I was happy for him to get the W back in his hometown barn. Good job Derek.

That's about it for the game.

Yikes....

I had high hopes for this game tonight. But the team falls 4-3 to the Warriors. It sounded like they played a great game but came out on the short end of the stick.

Playoff chances are becoming smaller and smaller and that really sucks. I still have hope but I think the "fat lady" is warming up in the background.

Win or lose, playoffs or no playoffs...... GO PATS GO!!

Oh My.....

Pats lose 10-2 tonight..... sounded like a real hum-dinger.

The last time the Pats allowed 10 goals in a game was October 26, 2002 in a 10-0 loss at the Crushed Can in Moose Jaw.

Summary is here.

Jesse Deckert and Josh Harding split duties in net surrendering 10 goals on 56 shots.

Pats @ Wheats

Well folks, this is almost it. Still have HUGE hopes but oy.... it might just be too late.

Scratches are Parker, Mulder, Hricina and Sparrow. I don't really know where to start with this.... why oh why is Mulder not playing? or Hricina?

Mitchell is playing centre? First time in his career. It might just work out. Bell playing wing? Why not leave him on the D and let him develop? I scratch my head some times but I guess that's why I'm a fan.
-------
I've given up on my WHL WebTV as it just didn't interest me. I had paid for the whole season and just had no interest. Listening to Pedersen and Plaster is way more fun. I don't know how accurate they are in their p-b-p but they are a hilarious tandem. Keep up the good work Rod and Dan.

As ever.... GO PATS GO!!!

This has been a long week already...

Not much to write about in Pats-ville. Seven points back of a playoff spot and it seems like the schedule is just getting tougher and tougher by the minute as they can't seem to gain any ground on anyone. I still have hope but it is starting to fade.
-----
I am interested in seeing Matt Delahey return to the 'Dome. It's going to be an odd sight to see him in a Bruin uniform. I will give him a cheer.
-----
I really don't have much to say.

K

That one hurts....

Pats lose 3-1 in Red Deer. 3 losses in a row is not a good thing when battling for a playoff spot. Sounded like a decent game except for "Pee Wee" but that's another story. They needed this points tonight. I don't have much to say but man this sucks...... season's not over yet.... but it's getting close.

Anyway,

Win or Lose..... Go Pats Go!

Pats @ Rebels

I was ready to listen to the game tonight and tuned in at 7:45pm and there was no game on. I checked the WHL site and seen that the game didn't actually start until 8:30pm. I turned off the radio and started watching the Olympic Ceremonies and missed the first 10 minutes.

I see that Carlson is playing which is a good thing (hopefully he is healthy as we need him on the blueline).

Sounds like a shaky start and according to Pedersen and Plaster Ketlo let in a softy for a 1-0 Rebel lead (Kudrna with the goal).

Edit: So much for "interesting scratches" - Parker, Sparrow, Mitchell and Favreau. The coaches must have had a change of heart.

Well....

I had every notion to post my thoughts on the Pats/Hitmen game the other night but I just couldn't bring myself to comment so I left it alone. Work has been busy the last couple days and I haven't had much internet time but now I'm good. There will be more frequent updates forthcoming.

Pats @ Wheats

I'm going to be missing the first half of the game... Due to a family function. But I will be checking for updates and if all goes well I will watch the archive of the first half of the game.

Anyway,

GO PATS GO!

EDIT: Well I never started to listen to the game until about halfway through the secind period when everything hit the fan for the Pats. I have decided not to watch the game (from the WHL Archive) because I don't want to listen to the Wheats broadcast.

NO POWERPLAYS!!??!!??!!?? It's junior hockey for goodness sake. No team is that "perfect" in junior hockey.

That is all I have to say for this game. I will have Pats/Hitmen thoughts later as the night goes on.

Pats v. Ice 3rd period

Ice speed proves too much for the Pats d and fourth line unit. Ice forwards work their magic and Ismond restores the Ice two goal lead. 4-2 Ice.

Pats cut into the lead with 1:53 left as Carlson let's a wrist shot go from the right point to make it 4-3. Assists to Teubert and Eberle.

With 54 seconds left and the goalie pulled... Eberle finds himself with the puck and beats Mathews top shelf to tie it up! 4-4 heading to OT.

Shots after three: 31-26 Ice.

Pats v. Ice after 2

Ice make it 2-0 on a terrible turnover. Sylvester steals the biscuit and and goes in on a two on oh and deposits the puck to the back of the net five hole on Ketlo.

Pats get back in it on a goal by Ashton. The Pats were working the puck around the offensive zone and what looked to be a broken play the puck ended up on the stick of Ashton who out waits (is that a term?) Mathews. Gustafsson and Bell get the apples. 2-1 Ice.

The Pats fourth line gets into the action. Working hard on a shift in the Ice zone the Pats get rhe puck to the net and Rieder pots his second of the season. Hricina and Spooner assist. 2-2.

Bad luck leads to the Ice scoring their third goal. The ice are working the puck win the Pats zone to the left of Ketlo and the puck pops out in front to a wide open Ismond who beats Ketlo high blocker side. 3-2 Ice.

Shots 14-9 for the Pats. 19-18 total for the Pats.

Ice find the scoresheet first on a goal by Ismond on a seeing eye floater that eludes Ketlo glove side. It looked as though it was tipped/deflected in front. 1-0 Ice.

Pats fail to connect on a late powerplay and go into the intermission down 1-0. Shots are 9-5 Ice.

Pats v. Blades game notes

From Greg Harder at the LeaderPost

SASKATOON (34-12-3-3)
at REGINA (23-25-3-3)

Today, 7 p.m., Brandt Centre
Radio: 620 CKRM
Key injuries: REGINA — None to report. SASKATOON — D Teigan Zahn (leg, out for season); LW Curtis Hamilton (collarbone, out for season); LW Curt Gogol (thumb, indefinite).
Overview: Saskatoon hasn't exactly set the league on fire in the New Year. After winning three straight games to open 2010, the Blades have gone 5-5-2. They lost 7-3 to the host Prince Albert Raiders on Wednesday to fall out of top spot in the Eastern Conference. They’re one point back of the front-running Brandon Wheat Kings, with three games in hand, and only two points ahead of the fifth-place Medicine Hat Tigers . . . The Pats have a 2-3-0 record against Saskatoon this season. Both wins came via shootout at the Brandt Centre. Following tonight’s game, the teams are slated to meet two more times in the regular season: Feb. 27 and March 10, both in Saskatoon . . . This is the first meeting between the Pats and Blades since the Jan. 10 trade deadline. Saskatoon made a deal with the Prince George Cougars for import C Marek Viedensky (9-27—36, 41 GP), who has five goals and six assists in 10 games since the trade. The Blades also added scrappy RW Sena Acolatse (14-11—25, 49 GP), who has one goal, two assists and 23 penalty minutes in 10 games . . . Captain Derek Hulak, an ex-Pat, is Saskatoon’s leading scorer (23-39—62, 52 GP). Stefan Elliott is among the league’s top-scoring D-men (19-28—47, 52 GP). He’s also tied for second in the WHL with a plus-32 rating. Hulak is +30 . . . Regina has a record of 16-8-1-3 on home ice. Saskatoon is 17-7-0-3 on the road . . . Blades head coach/GM Lorne Molleken has always loved a tough team. His current group has four players with over 100 penalty minutes: RW Randy McNaught (ranked third in the league with 144 PIMs), injured LW Curt Gogol (133), LW Darian Dziurzynski (124) and C Travis Toomey (103). The Pats have two: RW Brett Leffler (113) and D Mitch McColm (106).

Not Pats Related

But I thought I would post these video links.

Lane Scheidl of the Rebels kicks Darren Bestland of the Wheat Kings in the face... This could have been BAD. I'm not commenting on whether I think he did it on purpose or not but man it looked dangerous.

Marco Scandella (formerly of Team Canada) has been suspended indefinitely for his hit on Alexandre Durette.... Here is the video of the hit.

One more video. Apparently WHL Referee Graham Skilliter was hit by Brandon McMillan of the Kelowna Rockets and got seriously injured. The video here is the 'aftermath' of the hit. Skilliter was taken off the ice on a stretcher. Even though I get on the officials at times I wish Graham all the best and hope he has a speedy recovery.

That's all for now I think.

Well that one stings....

Well at least we got the "loser" point.

Rod Pedersen has a write-up on his blog and you can find that here: http://rodpedersen.blogspot.com/2010/02/rebels-3-pats-2-so.html

A couple of notes:

>The officiating was bad at best but I will leave it at that.

>The Pats had trouble finishing in regulation and in the shoot out.

>Darcy Kuemper made some seriously good saves that kept the game close and eventually to the win for the Rebels.

>The Pats top 5 or 6 forwards and top 4 defencemen looked completely gassed by the mid point of the third period. They played A LOT of minutes in the third. A LOT of minutes. If they are going to keep on playing that kind of minutes they are going to completely wear out.

That's about all for now.
