I did have some thoughts....

on the season but then we acquire Frazee and Ouellette and Ashton comes back..... I'm going to have to re-think a few things and I will post some things later (or early tomorrow.... depending on the Rider game).

I also have a few thoughts about last night's game as I watched the webcast.... Just a few things to say. But, back to the Rider game).

It would be nice to see some of the 3rd and 4th line guys who do their jobs get a chance to play a regular shift with decent players. A kid like Rieder works his butt off and does exactly what Hunt and company tell him to do...and then because he doesn't score the big goals (and how can he when there is nobody to maintain puck possession with him) he is relegated to slogging it out with newcomers and Favreau. Meanwhile the coaches talk about how the veterans didn't follow the game plan yet they are part of the usual shortened bench that sees all the ice and gets no results. Put Rieder on first line with Weal and Ashton and he can be the defensive conscience while passing them the puck.

I agree with your assessment of Rieder... to a point. I don't know if he's earned "top line billing" just yet. He has definitely earned more ice..... consistent ice. Let him be an energy/crash and bang forward that can skate and maybe down the line get top 2 line ice time. I do think the kid has the ability. Hopefully he gets more of a role this year.

I felt the same way about Tyler Parker, hunt always put him with young guys with no experience, never a chance to show, always just digging it out. with his goal in preseason, I liked what i saw

I think we are in for more of the same this year. Disgruntled hockey players and a coach who seems to have difficulty communicating with developing hockey players.
