Pats @ Raiders (Pats fall 4-1)

I was really looking forward to this game.... So much for that. I decided to just listen to Dan Plaster tonight and I'm actually glad I did. Didn't sound like a good game. Pats missing Davidson, Strueby, Hood and Bell.... it sounded like they missed at least 2 of those parts. Oh well, I'm still not feeling 100% so this is pretty much all I going to write tonight.

Pre-game notes from Slap Shots or from Regina Pats dot com.

Have a great night everyone!

Pats history told in new book

I have read the book (pre-publication, and I have a nice brand new copy) and I think it's a good read for any die hard Pats fan especially ones who are interested in the teams history/heritage all the way back to 1917. Trust me when I say this.... it's a good book. Good job Ron!

Pats @ Broncos (Update)

Davidson, Metz and Strueby are all out with various injuries. Looks like Sparrow is the other scratch for the Blue & White.

Swift opens the scoring at the 9:15 minute mark on a goal by Stickland assisted by Eakin and Hoban). For the first part of the game the Broncos are taking it to the Pats.... not overly dominating but they are controlling most of the play from what I can see on the web cast (for Swift being a smaller rink the camera view is so far away and at times it is hard to tell what is going on in each end).

Pats are fending off the Broncos.... Weal ties the game @ 15:44 (assisted by Eberle) on an odd man rush (may have been tipped in by the Bronco d-man Claffey but it was hard to tell.... Keen figures it either hit Claffey or Weal batted it out of the air but wasn't sure). The tide is turning and looks more like a back and forth type game. Like I said it's hard to tell on the web cast.

Morgan Clark makes a couple nice saves to keep the score tied at 1.

First period ends 1-1. Shots are 12-11 Pats.

After a 20 minute or so delay.... an errant shot hit the glass of one of the i-Plex's new "sky boxes" and shattered in the Pats end.

Sounded and sorta looked like a good second period.

Second ends 1-1. Shots are now 27-18 Swift (16-6 for Swift in the 2nd).

Broncos Eakin scores with 16.7 seconds left on a Pats turnover to make the score 2-1. Eberle gets a great chance with Ketlo out of the net but is stoned by Clark. Pats fall 2-1.

Seeing that the Pats game is on a Rider game day the Pats game will be joined in progress on CKRM. I will post updates for anyone who is interested as I will be watching it on the internet and listening to Jon Keen's play-by-play. I do think this will be a good tilt. Hopefully the Pats can pull this one off.

Pats Imports (Swedes and more)

While listening to the Pats broadcast last night an interesting topic came up regarding Swedish born Hampus Gustafsson.... Other than Niklas Barklund Rod or Dan couldn't think of any other Swedish players to wear a Pats sweater. It piqued my interest and did some digging. I have a complete player database with positions, listed playing heights/weights and hometowns/birthplaces for most of the Pats from 1966-now (and quite a few from the early days as well).... and found that they were right with Barklund and Gustafsson as being the only 2 Swedes that I can find that played for the Pats. With that being said I put a list of all imports that played a game for the modern Pats (1966-now). Here it is:

Tonight!

Game notes.......

Credit Union Centre, Saskatoon
Radio: 620 CKRM Regina, 92.9 The Bull FM Saskatoon

HIGHWAY 11 RIVALRY
Tonight is already the 4th of 8 meetings this season between the Saskatoon Blades and the Regina Pats. The Blades hold the edge in the season series thus far with a 2-0-0-1 record vs. Regina. In the first game these two teams played, back on Sept 18th, the Blades defeated the Pats by a score of 5-1. On the 23rd of September, the Pats used the shoot-out to claim a 4-3 victory over the visiting Blades. 4 days later back in Regina, the Blades skated to a 4-1 victory over their hosts.

Burke Gallimore (3G 2A) and Derek Hulak (1G 4A) lead the Blades offensive attack vs. the Pats this season, with each player collecting 5 points in the 3 games played against Regina. Adam Morrison has got all 3 previous starts vs. the Pats, posting a 92.4% save percentage and a 1.62 GAA in those games. For the Pats, Matt Streuby has scored 3 times to lead Regina’s offense against the Blades.

SASKATOON BLADES – Last Game
The Saskatoon Blades continued their winning ways on Sunday afternoon, picking up their fifth straight win with a 4-0 victory at Edmonton.

REGINA PATS - Last Game
A 3-2 OT loss at P.A. last night. See postgame story in posts below.

BLADES NEWS & NOTES
- Tuesday Oct 13, 2009, the Saskatoon Blades have traded 20 year old import forward Milan Kytnar to the Vancouver Giants. In return the Blades receive a 3rd round WHL Bantam pick in 2010. The move leaves the Blades with 22 players (13 forwards, 7 defenseman, and 2 goaltenders). The trade of Kytnar also solidifies the Blades three 20 year old spots with Derek Hulak, Walker Wintoneak, and Sam Klassen filling those spots.
- On October 6th, the Saskatoon Blades acquired 19 year old forward Randy McNaught from the Chilliwack Bruins in exchange for Jamie Crooks and a conditional draft pick. The 6’5, 221 lbs. McNaught has appeared in 90 games in his WHL career; picking up 8 goals and 5 assists to go along with 175 PIM’s.

By The Numbers
- The Blades roster features 17 returning players from last season’s East Division Pennant winning club. Amongst those returning are 5 twenty goal scores from last season in: Hulak, Wintoneak, Hamilton, Gallimore, and Patterson. With the addition of Jeremy Boyer, the Blades line-up now boasts 6 twenty goal scorers from the 2008-09 season.
- Adam Morrison currently is ranked first overall in the league in both GAA (2.07) and save percentage (92.4%). The 2nd year member of the Blades has a record of 14-3-1-1 in 22 career appearances in net for Saskatoon.
- Derek Hulak is tied for 10th overall in league scoring this season. The 20 year old Captain of the Blades has collected 5G and 12A for 17 points through 11 games.
- The Saskatoon Blades have 5 players ranked in the top 20 for best +/- rating in the league. Stefan Elliott and Derek Hulak are tied for 9th in the league with a +9 rating and Sam Klassen, Walker Wintoneak, and Burke Gallimore are tied for 15th overall with +8 ratings.
- Randy McNaught of the Blades is currently ranked 1st in the league in Penalty Minutes with 60.
- The Blades power-play is still struggling to find the back of the net consistently. The Blades find themselves ranked 18th in the league on the PP with a 13.0% (7 for 54) efficiency rating. However, on the penalty kill, the Blades find themselves ranked 2nd in the league with a 89.8% (43 of 48) success rate after having only surrendering 5 power-play markers against them this season.

Greg Harder has some trade thoughts....

Check out his Slap Shots blog.

Here's an excerpt:
There’s every reason to think Carlson can take that challenge and run with it, especially if he's as talented as a lot of people seem to believe. With the Pats, he’ll be in an excellent position to succeed. There are a lot of offensive defencemen in the WHL who would give their left arm for a chance to play with Jordan Eberle and Jordan Weal on the power play and pair up with bruising blueliners like Colten Teubert and Matt Delahey.
It’ll be up to Carlson to take advantage.

-------
Greg has an interesting perspective on the trade and the prospect of future wheeling and dealing.

I really like this trade. It gives the Pats a much needed veteran on the d. If he is the PP quarterback that everyone insists he is; he will be a huge asset for the club. He might be on the smallish side but from what I have read about him he will be a great addition.

A few Pats articles in today's LeaderPost

To Gustafsson, Regina is a Swede fit

Carlson is a wanted man

Mitchell to return early
-------
Greg Harder has some other thoughts about these articles on his blog...

From Greg's notes....
Talking to new Pats import Hampus Gustafsson, the first thing you notice is obviously the fact that he speaks excellent English. The other thing that strikes you right away is the fact that he’s in great shape. In fact, for a guy who’s only 5-foot-10, 174 pounds, the kid is built like a brick $&%@ house.

More on Carlson.....

GM Parker.....

On getting Carlson to accept the deal: “We just wanted to make sure we had a good conversation with him and a good understanding that he knew what we were looking for and I wanted to have a good comfort level that he would report. (Tigers head coach/GM) Willie (Desjardins) was excellent. He gave us every opportunity to discuss it with (Carlson) and see where his mindset was.”

All of the quotes can be found on Greg Harder's Slap Shots blog.

Greg Harder's story and blog entry

Blazers steal one in Regina

Kamloops Blazers burn Regina Pats 5-4

---------------
Some questionable officiating in this one. I'm not normally one to overly complain about the stripes but I wasn't impressed at all in this one. I still don't understand the reasoning behind the non-goal but good teams should have the ability to overcome any adversity but unfortunatley the Pats weren't able to.

I am starting to really have issues with Guhle as the Pats' netminder of the future (or is it now?). He goes down into the butterfly waaaay too early and lets in some weak goals. He's a good goalie but I think the Pats should give Tendler a shot... I really hope Ketlo is healthy soon.

I hope Hampus gets here soon so maybe the Pats will move Bell back to D and re-arrange their corps. When the game is on the line Hunt only uses 4 d-men anyway so would it even make sense to move a future franchise d-man back to defence? I think so.

I wasn't happy with a few players last night.... I won't mention names but yeah I wasn't impressed.

I did however like how Eberle, Teubert, Delahey, Bell, Mulder, Hood, Davidson (other than one ugly turnover) last night.

I look forward to seeing the game against the Hurricanes.

Pats acquire new Import.....

Hampus Gustafsson.

http://reginapats.com/News/733/

Pats Swap Euros
2009-10-16

Regina, Saskatchewan – The Regina Pats have switched things up concerning their imports. They have sent one import home, and added another. Michal Poletin has been sent back to the Czech Republic. In 8 games with the Pats this season, Poletin has a goal and an assist and 4 minutes in penalties.

In the empty import position, the Pats have added 18 year old forward Hampus Gustafsson. Gustafsson spent training camp with the Saskatoon Blades, but was the odd man out in their import situation. He was a member of Sweden’s U-18 team, but was unable to play because of an ankle injury.

#13 Hampus Gustafsson LW
Born: April 22/91
Shoots: Left
Home: Malmo, Sweden
5’9” 175lbs.
2008-09 Malmo Jr.’s
GP-31 G-17 A-15 Pts-32 PIM-53

This leaves the Pats with the CHL maximum of 2 import players as Gustafsson joins second year forward, Tomas Hricina in the line-up.

Gustafsson will arrive in Regina tonight, and is still a question mark for tomorrow night’s game as the Lethbridge Hurricanes take on the Pats. It’s a 7pm puck drop at the Brandt Centre. For tickets, go to www.reginapats.com, or phone the Ticketmaster box office at 543-7800.

You wanna know what grinds my gears?

Well here you go..........

- You wanna know what grinds my gears? "Fans" who ever so constantly take it upon themselves to get players to not want to play here. Example: Colten Teubert DOES NOT deserve all of the crap that is hurled his way..... I'm not saying that he wants to leave but in all honesty if I was in his shoes, I would want out..... But back on point - He is a 1st round NHL pick and a World Junior Gold Medalist. Enough said.

- You wanna know what grinds my gears? People who get up or sit down during the play to obstruct peoples' views. Such dumb dumbs.

- You wanna know what grinds my gears? People that think they know EVERYTHING about hockey and constantly yell out for penalty calls that were not penalties or call for off sides when the player were clearly onside. I have one guy in my section that my buddy and I call "Mr. Obvious" and he does such things. His best is when the puck hits the post and he will holler "Oh that just the post" or something along those lines.

- You wanna know what grinds my gears? How people talk and talk and talk during the game.... during the play! And what they are talking about has nothing to do with the game.

- You wanna know what grinds my gears? The "bus driver" guy in my section. Any time that he feels that there is a call (or 2) that goes against the Pats that he doesn't think that are legit he hollers "Bus Driver" at the ref or refs. This happens frequently.

- You wanna know what grinds my gears? People who holler "shoot" at every chance they get during a Pats PP even though there is no shooting lanes or no true opportunities. People you have to realize that 99.9% of teams have a PP that they try to operate and they can't shoot every time. I'm glad they aren't the coaches.

- You wanna know what grinds my gears? People on other blog’s with their comments regarding Linden Rowat. People need to smarten up! Rowat was a darn good goalie while wearing the red, white and blue. He played 183 regular season games with the Pats and has a career 2.90 GAA. Okay I do agree that he was no Josh Harding but last year ANYONE playing net would have looked “normal” (I still call last year a write-off). I may not give Rowat a standing ovation but I do appreciate what he did for the Pats and as far as I am concerned he was one of the top netminders I have seen wear a Pats uniform.

I definitely have more but I think I will end there.

Ketlo taking his time

Greg Harder has the story at LeaderPost.com.

I hope he gets healthy soon. The Pats need some really solid goaltending. Guhle has filled the void but is not ready to be the full fledged starter. Here's hoping.

I know it's a couple of days after the game but I figured I would post the summary and a couple of thoughts.

I really don't have much to say about the game but I do have a few things that I figured I would point out.

The Pats are not a great skating team and are rather slow and have trouble keeping up to a quicker team.

Our defence needs another veteran to ease the burden on the kids (Davidson, Borstmayer, Bell) and I don't think they have the trust of our goaltender (Guhle).

Guhle handles the puck like a grenade and it's scary to see him try to stick handle. He still lets in bad/soft goals.

My buddy that sits beside me didn't even realize that Strueby was playing until the second period. Man he pretty much disappears for periods at a time.

For being such a "defensive" club.... the team can't keep the puck out of the net.... for whatever reason.

Where has the Pats leadership been? Other than Eberle's crazy hot start I don't see how he is the leader. Leffler has been taking some really bad penalties and seems to be hit and miss with his effort. Teubert is Teubert (and taking waaaaaay too much grief yet again) and I honestly don't see him with a 'C' on his jersey. Delahey has been the Pats most consistent 20-year old and probably the Pats' best d-man but will he wear the 'C', I just don't know.

-------------
I wonder if BP is wishing he kept Rowat? Guhle 4.28 and a .864% AND Ketlo 3.36 and a .905%

Not very impressive numbers.
-------------
People may agree or disagree with what I say but it's my opinion and I'm not being too harsh (or at least I don't think).

That's all for now.

Pats vs. Hitmen

Game Notes from the Pats website. I will have a follow up and thoughts later.

-----
One thing I do hope is that the Pats dress a capable back-up goalie.... just in case. Watching one poor goalie get shelled like Guhle did on Wednesday night almost made me ill.

Last Action:
One of the most dominating weeks in years finished up with a 7-3 win over the Red Deer Rebels. Matt Delahey had one of his best career offensive performances with a pair of goals and an assist. Also scoring was: Kyle Mulder, Jordan Weal, Michal Poletin, Graham Hood and Brett Leffler. Dawson Guhle snagged his second straight win.
The Pats won their second in a row Friday night with a convincing 6-1 victory over the Swift Current Broncos. Jordan Eberle picked up 2 goals, while his line mates Brett Leffler and Jordan Weal also had multiple point night. Kyle Mulder, Killian Hutt and Matt Strueby also scored for the Pats while Dawson Guhle stopped 22 shots for his second win of the season.
The return of Jordan Eberle is defiantly the cure to the Pats offensive woes. He came in and was put on a line with Jordan Weal and Brett Leffler and it was instant magic. The trio combined for 6 goals and 11 points in a 9-3 bombing of the Prince Albert Raiders. Jordan Weal picked up the hat trick, Brett Leffler had a goal and 3 assist, while Jordan Eberle had 2 goals and 2 assists. Also scoring for the blue and white was Matt Strueby, Killian Hutt and Brayden Metz. Damien Ketlo was a quiet story on the night, stopping 30 of 33 shots, including a pair of breakaways in the first period.

Injury Report:
Garrett Mitchell (Thumb) – 4-6
Games lost to injury – 8 games

Top line is....tops:
Forward Jordan Eberle returned to the Pats line-up last week after a strong Edmonton Oiler training camp and he combined with Jordan Weal and Brett Leffler for a fantastic week. The trio scored 11 timed and picked up 25 points in the three Pat wins.

Eberle topping the charts:
Jordan Eberle is currently the Pats active leader in goals with 107 for his Pat career. This puts him in a tie with Rhett Gordon (Pats 92-96) on the modern Pats all-time goal list (1966-present) just one goal back of Len Nielsen (82-87) and 2 back of Gary Dickie (85-89) and Rob Tudor (72-76). Eberle’s 212 points puts him past Jeff Shantz (89-93) and is now 2 points back of Darren Veitch (76-80) on the all time points list.

Another Weal of a Week:
For his 4 goals and 5 assists, Regina Pats forward Jordan Weal, was named the Boston Pizza WHL player of the week. This was the second time that Weal has been named a player of the week in his career. He was the P.O.W. for the first week of the 2008-09 season.

Davidson flying under the radar:
18 year old rookie defenceman, Brandon Davidson, is continuing his stellar rookie campaign. He is 5th in team scoring, while also in the top ten in defensive and rookie scoring.

Guhle filling the void:
With Damien Ketlo nursing a tender groin, rookie goaltender Dawson Guhle has filled in admirably with back-to-back wins this week. He now has 3 of the 4 Pat wins this season.

Leffs is best:
In his 5th season as a member of the Regina Pats, 20 year old forward, Brett Leffler, has been one of the top players in the WHL. He is 2nd in the league in scoring, 2nd in plus/minus and 2nd in assists.

Little man, big stick:
The Pats acquired Killian Hutt earlier last week from the Portland Winterhawks, and the fireplug sized forward made and instant impact with a pair of goals and an assists in his first 3 games as a member of the blue and white.

The week of his career:
18 year old forward, Kyle Mulder, had a total of 2 goals and no assists in all of last season. In the 3 games this week, he doubled that total with 2 goals and 2 assists.

*Brett Leffler is on a 6 game point streak (4g 8a)

Jordan Weal WHL Player of the Week

CALGARY, AB. - The BOSTON PIZZA W HL Player of the Week is forward Jordan Weal of the Regina Pats.

Weal picked up nine points, scoring four goals and five assists to go with a +6 rating, in three games over the past week, helping the Pats post a 3-0 record in that span.

On Wednesday, September 30th, the Pats were in Prince Albert to face the Raiders at the Art Hauser Centre. Weal netted his first career hat trick, scoring three times to push the Pats to a 9-3 victory; he was also named the games 2nd Star. On Friday, October 2nd, the Pats hosted Divisional rivals the Swift Current Broncos to the Brandt Centre in Regina. Weal picked up a pair of assists as the Pats downed the Broncos 6-1; he was also named the games 3rd Star for his efforts. The following evening, Saturday, October 3rd, also at the Brandt Centre, Weal scored one goal and added three assists as the Pats defeated the Red Deer Rebels 7-3, he again was named the games 3rd Star.

Weal, a 17-year-old centerman from North Vancouver, British Columbia, is in his second full season with the Regina Pats. During last year’s rookie season Weal picked up 70 points in 65 games and was the WHL Eastern Conference nominee for WHL Rookie of the Year. He currently sits seventh among WHL scorers with 11 points in eight games.

The WHL has also nominated Calvin Pickard of the Seattle Thunderbirds for the CHL Goaltender of the Week Award. On Friday, October 2nd, the T-Birds hosted U.S. Divisional rivals, the Tri-City Americans at the ShoWare Center in Kent. Pickard stopped all 57 shots faced to record his fourth career shut-out as Seattle downed the Americans 1-0. He was also named the games 1st Star.

My thoughts: Pats/Rebels

Another nice game for the Pats. Kinda started slow and Red Deer had taken the momentum even though they had just 5 shots in the first. The Pats tossed everything and the kitchen sink at Barnstable and couldn't dent the twine until Matt Delahey lifted a floater past the Rebel keeper with 18 seconds left in the first.

Jordan Weal put the Pats back up 1 with a PP goal 4:40 into the 2nd and the Pats seemed like they were coasting. The Rebels were able to respond on the PP on a goal by Kudrna (2nd of the game) who stuffed the shot under Guhle at the 7:02 mark of the 2nd. I was thinking that the Pats were in trouble but Brett Leffler ripped a screen shot past Barnstable to give the Pats the lead yet again less than 2 1/2 minutes after the Rebels tied it up. The Pats kept it coming and Matt Delahey sniped his second of the game on the PP to give the Pats a 4-2 lead going into the third.

The Pats potted 2 quick goals 1:36 and 1:54 into the third to take a commanding lead and never really looked back (Mulder and Poletin picking up the genos, respectively). Kudrna scored his 3rd of the game on another PP to pull the Rebs back to respectability. Graham Hood potted his first on a juicy rebound with just 15 seconds left in the game. Make the final 7-3 Pats.

A couple of quick thoughts about Red Deer. I was trying to pay close attention to Nugent-Hopkins and I wasn't disappointed but I wasn't overwhelmed by his presence. He's a pretty good hockey player but in my opinion just didn't have it tonight. I look forward to seeing him as the season goes on. To be honest I never really noticed Kudrna much at all until he scored on the PP (3 times). I never even noticed him. Where was Ferraro? I found it odd that he wasn't dressed. I really like the way Weller plays on D. He's a big body that can skate and hardly ever seems to get caught out of position.

 Now on to the Pats....

Guhle had another solid game for the team. I'm still not overly convinced that he is a great goalie but like everyone says he is very raw and has tons of potential.... still has a penchant for soft goals (see RD goal #2).

Davidson is getting better shift by shift. I know he's still a rookie but man o man he plays like a 3 or 4 year vet. Only going to get better.

Delahey probably had his best statistical game in his career and deserved it. He has been a stalwart on the Pats d since returning from Devils camp. I do also believe he will keep it up and have a great final year with the red, white and blue.

I really don't have anything bad to say about any players from tonight's game, I think for the most part they played a good solid team game.

I don't know what Jordan Eberle brought back to Regina with him but it is sure rubbing off on the rest of the team. The line of Leffler-Weal-Eberle has been dominant the last 3 games. Strueby, Metz, Hricina, Hood, Huttm et al. are all playing great. Mulder has seen so much ice time he is finally getting a chance to show why he is here and he has been dynamite this year.

Two fights by non-fighters tonight Brayden Metz dropped the mitts with a Rebel player who gave Strueby a hard hit along the wall (a little from behind but it wasn't too abd of a hit). He never threw any punches and I don't recall the Rebel player getting any shots in before they wrestles each other to the ground. Matt Strueby decided to drop the gloves and go at it with a Rebel in the middle of a scrum. I don't thin Matt got any shots in and the Rebel player landed a couple and Strueby's helmet came off and his head tucked inside his jersey and the Rebel got him with 2 or 3 good shots before the scrap was broken up.

On a side note.... I still don't understand why everything seems to be Teubert's fault. People.... get real. I've seen players making big mistakes this year that have led to goals against and I hear "Oh, c'mon Teubert" or "Teubert" "You suck Teubert" and a few others (not as bad as last year but it's already happening. I think I must be watching a different game on many of the cat-calls because in my opinion he has been pretty solid (he's made a couple of gaffe's but so has everyone else). I read a coment on another blog saying that his "yapping is costing he Pats" (something along those lines). I'm not 100% sure what the poster meant with that comment. He always seems to be talking to the officials or the opponents and I honestly think that many players and officials are somewhat intimidated by his presence.... He's such a wild card and probably as tough as most players in the WHL. Ummm.... ya..... anyone remember Barret Jackman? Ya I thought so. He was always talking to the officials and always seemed to be lipping off the opponents. Sound familiar? I think so. So people just lay off. I know a lot of people will disagree with me but that's what opinion is for and I'm sticking to mine.

Note: I'm in no way trying to compare Jackman to teubert skill wise but in their attitude on the ice (from my fan perspective) they are eerily similar.

Have a great Sunday everyone!

Pats/Broncos thoughts

I don't know what has gotten into the Pats but they are looking waaay better the last 2 games. Jordan Eberle exudes confidence and I think that everyone is following suit. He is so good it's scary. One play he took the puck wide down the right wall and Eric Doyle appeared to rub him out but Eberle actually out-muscled him and got deep in the zone and fed a beauty pass out to Leffler who connected on a one-timer but was stopped by the Bronco netminder.

Dawson Guhle had a good game in net stopping 22 of 23. Swift never really had much pressure and most of their chances were from the outside (or weren't great shots) and Guhle made the saves he had to.

Brandon Davidson is quickly becoming my favourite Pat. I know he's 18 but he's still a rookie for the squad and he's easily made the Pats top 4 defence making the Pats choice to move Bell to RW a lot easier I would imagine. Davidson has already tallied 5 points in 7 games which is amazing.

Brett Leffler is showing some incredible grit and energy. Although he seems to disappear at times you have to take into fact that Weal and Eberle are his linemates and they are a treat to watch.

More random thoughts about some other players....

Alex Pym has played up to his potential, if anyone says otherwise they have no clue what they are talking about. Still makes mistakes here and therr but he has played great.

Myles Bell at forward has had a good go of things. I'm not sure why he's playing forward (other than the issue of the Pats lack of team speed, and he is a fast skilled player) but like I said earlier in regards to Davidson making the decision way easier.

Where has this Kyle Mulder been? He has been playing amazing the last 2 games and probably has seen more ice time this year than all of last year, he's even killing penalties. I am liking his progress.

Killian Hutt is a little offensive dynamo that seems to have a hidden gear. I can't wait to see him when he gets his wind.... looks like he is just starting training camp but is cashing in and fitting in really well.

Jordan Weal is really the "Real Deal" man when this kid has the puck it's scary for the defence. Only getting better.

Colten Teubert has been a menace for the opposition. I really don't know what the fans have against him but holy man he seems to get blamed for everything bad that happens. I didn't hear too much tonight but people need to grow up and realize that there are more players on the ice than him. If he wouldn't have been tossed (10 minute misconduct) late in the game I think there might have been a gong show. I'm liking his style.... one of the Pats "Bash Brothers"

Matt Delahey is definitely the other "Bash Brother" and I think he is our definsive stalwart. His ability on the PK is great.

One more for tonight. Matt Strueby has really made his case as an overage (I still don't get that term, but that's another story) with 5 goals in 7 games. He's definitely not fancy but his workman like approach is getting him lots of ice and he's paying dividends.

Overall, I'm starting to really like the team this year, keep in mind I said that last year at this time and look what happened. But this is a new year and there seems to be a different attitude amongst the boys. I hope they can keep this up and make 09-10 a great season for Pats' fans.

For tonight's game...

Seeing that there is no local broadcast of the game (due to the Rider game) would people like me to update the score as the game goes? I can do it goal by goal or period by period (depending on how fast and furious the play is).

Please comment and let me know.... that is if anyone wants to know. Or you can check out WHL.ca for updated scores.

Some Pats notes from Greg Harder

Hunt fined/Ketlo out

---------
I'm glad Hunt only got a fine. Especially after the debacle on Wednesday night led by the striped wonder Derek Zalaski. DZ may have lost control of the game but it could have been waaay worse.

The Ketlo injury has me worried a bit. Guhle is a good goalie (minus a couple bad goals here and there) but I don't think he's ready to take the starter's job if Ketlo ends up being out long term. I guess I will have to have the wait and see approach.
